Kitty Homecoming Tips

Leaving everything a kitten has ever know is really scary and sometimes overwhelming to these babies. They  leave their mother, siblings and surroundings and do not understand what is happening. It is important to help them until they can get adjusted. Exotic shorthair cat prices are not cheap and people who purchase them really want to help them be as comfortable as possible during this transition period. So I have put together some tips and as always the kitten is the most important factor in the process.
1. Small area is important for times when you are not with the kitten. A bathroom or closet can work well, or a crate, the ones that look like coat hanger wire are good. I like the 36 inch ones as that gives room at the back for a small litter pan and then middle a folded towel for a bed then water and food on each side of the door. This is especially good if you have to leave the kitten alone in the first week or so and great for night sleep. At night I put a sheet over the crate like a little bird and they sleep great. If you have to leave the kitten alone all day it is better to have a little larger space like a small room instead of the crate so they can get exercise.
2. Play, Play, Play when you are home with feathers on a stick, lazer lights and other toys that you interact with. This builds a bond and will help your kitten adjust.
3. Build playhouses out of delivery boxes, we have directions on our Blog page and you can build them for free. Kittens/Cats love little cubby holes to hide and play in.
4. Make sure your new baby is eating well, if not call your breeder for instructions.
5. Talk sweet to your new kitten and they will know you love them and you will know your kitten was worth the exotic shorthair prices because they are absolutely precious little cats
