Litter Box Training
Litter box training for kittens begins much earlier than most new owners realize. At TESCATS, our Exotic Shorthair kittens are introduced to clean routines, age-appropriate litter boxes, and consistent habits long before they go home.
Exotic Shorthair Kittens (Step-by-Step Timeline)
Bringing home a kitten is exciting… until you realize tiny paws come with tiny bathroom habits
The good news?
At TESCATS, our kittens are raised with a structured litter training system from birth, which means your kitten comes home already set up for success.
Let’s walk you through exactly how that process works
Litter Box Talk
We use a high-quality, unscented clumping litter designed for:
- Low dust (better for flat-faced breeds)
Strong odor control
Easy scooping
Safe, fragrance-free environment
Why unscented?
Exotic Shorthairs have sensitive little noses, and strong fragrances can actually discourage litter box use.

TESCATS Pro Tips (This Matters!)
Here’s how to not mess it up once your kitten comes home:
- Never let a kitten roam without a litter box in the room
- Use a night space or small area at first
- Keep their environment consistent
- Avoid sudden food changes (this causes accidents)
- If tummy issues happen, keep the litter box VERY close
- Full control develops over time — be patient
